WWE's Clash at the Castle premium live event was a roaring success for all concerned (besides Drew McIntyre fans), with the show being a big money spinner for both WWE and the country of Wales.

A new report from the BBC (citing the Welsh government and an Economic Impact Study) suggested that the event at Principality Stadium generated £21.8 million for the Welsh economy.

The figure is similar to the amount generated by high-profile international rugby games, such as those from the Six Nations tournament.

The study noted that three quarters of the 60,000 who attended the show had travelled to Wales from outside the country.

Touting the impact on Wales' international profile, the country's economy minister Vaughan Gething was quoted as saying:

"In addition to the direct economic impact the event delivered here in Wales, it provided us with a huge boost to our profile internationally. This included opportunities to showcase Wales' vibrant language and culture through bespoke content creation shared globally on WWE's social media channels".

In November, it was reported that WWE earned around $8 million in revenue from Clash at the Castle, their first major UK stadium show since SummerSlam 1992.
