WWE could be set to make changes to already announced matches for WrestleMania 42 ahead of the show taking place in Las Vegas next month.
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select has reported that there has been consideration within WWE about adding a number of stipulations to currently planned matches for WrestleMania. It was said it wouldn't be a surprise if a stipulation is added to an opening match in the hopes of enticing people to subscribe to ESPN Unlimited. The opening hour of both nights of WrestleMania will air on ESPN's cable TV channels, with WrestleMania Saturday set to be broadcast on ESPN2, while WrestleMania Sunday will air on ESPN.
It is unknown which stipulations are currently under consideration. A Hell in a Cell Match was reportedly pitched for WrestleMania 42 for Drew McIntyre vs. Cody Rhodes, but WWE pivoted those plans and switched the Undisputed WWE Title match to Cody Rhodes vs. Randy Orton.
Along with Orton vs. Rhodes, matches already official for WWE WrestleMania 42 include CM Punk vs. Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Title, a Brock Lesnar open challenge, Stephanie Vaquer vs. Liv Morgan for the Women's World Championship, and Jade Cargill vs. Rhea Ripley for the WWE Women's Title.
While not yet official, reports have noted other matches planned for WrestleMania 42 include Giulia vs. Tiffany Stratton for the Women's United States Championship, and Asuka vs. IYO SKY but that match may be changed to a Triple Threat with Kairi Sane. The expectation within WWE is also that Oba Femi will be the wrestler to answer Brock Lesnar's open challenge.
