WWE Hall Of Famer Donald Trump Charged Over Plotting To Overturn 2020 Presidential Election

A WWE Hall of Famer has found himself in trouble with the law. 

Donald Trump has been charged with plotting to overturn his defeat in the 2020 United States President Election to the Democratic Party candidate Joe Biden. Trump has been accused of four counts, including conspiracy to defraud the United States, tampering with a witness, and conspiracy against the rights of citizens. 

The indictment comes after an investigation into the 2020 presidential election and Trump's actions between the election in November and the storming of the Capitol Building on January 6, 2021 by Trump supporters as lawmakers certified the Democrat's victory. 

Jack Smith, the man leading the inquiry, stated: "The attack on our nation's capital on January 6, 2021 was an unprecedented assault on the seat of American democracy. As described in the indictment it was fuelled by lies."

Trump is set to appear in court on Thursday. 

The charges are just the latest legal trouble for Trump, who has already been charged with mishandling classified files and falsifying business records to cover up a hush-money payment to an adult film star. Despite his legal issues, Trump is the frontrunner to be the Republican Party candidate for the 2024 US Presidential Election. 

The Trump campaign issued the following statement about his indictment: "The lawlessness of these persecutions of President Trump and his supporters is reminiscent of Nazi Germany in the 1930s, the former Soviet Union, and other authoritarian, dictatorial regimes. These un-American witch hunts will fail."
