WWE NXT Reviving Old PPV For September Show

WWE NXT are bringing an old PPV name out of retirement

Before and after the demise of NXT's TakeOver events, the black and gold brand has instead opted to bring back some cherished event names from WWE and WCW’s past, with the likes of Halloween Havoc, The Great American Bash, and even In Your House having been used for NXT TV specials and ‘premium live events’ alike.

Now it looks like another former WWE event will be reborn under the NXT banner, with NXT No Mercy set for September 30. The reveal was made by NXT head Shawn Michaels on a media call, with September’s show being the first No Mercy event held since 2017.

Originally a UK-only PPV event, No Mercy was held annually from 1999 until 2008, and was revived twice more in 2016 and 2017. For gamers, No Mercy conjured up memories of the THQ Nintendo 64 classic of the same name, still regarded as one of if not the greatest professional wrestling video game ever.

NXT No Mercy 2023 will be held in Bakersfield, California’s Mechanics Bank Arena.
