IYO SKY's WWE WrestleMania 42 match may have been scrapped. The former WWE Women's Champion on social media challenged Asuka to a match at WrestleMania last week, but SKY's post was deleted on Monday ahead of the go-home episode of Raw before WrestleMania.

Dave Meltzer has since reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that, as of last word, IYO SKY vs. Asuka was probably going to be pushed back to Backlash.

"She's not got a match for Mania. Here's what I would say, a couple of days ago she put up something on social media which is basically a challenge, 'Asuka I challenge you for WrestleMania.' So at that point when she put that up it's like, 'Okay, they're going to do the match and they're going to announce the match on Monday because she's put out the challenge.' You would never do that unless you were told to do it, right? No one has told me it's dead. The last I heard was that it could happen, but it would probably is going to be moved to Backlash. But it's not like it's for sure going to be at Backlash," Meltzer said.

IYO SKY vs. Asuka was listed on the internal card for WrestleMania 42 as of 10 days ago, Meltzer noted, but the match became up in the air in recent days. Reports have noted the match taking place at WrestleMania hinged on whether Nikki Bella would be cleared in time to work the WWE Women's Tag Team Title four-way at WWE's biggest weekend of the year, with it being noted the Kabuki Warriors would be added to the match if WWE needed to pull the Bella Twins. Bella making WrestleMania was considered "too close to call" as of April 13.

The rivalry between Asuka and IYO SKY did continue on the go-home episode of Raw before WrestleMania, with Asuka interfering in SKY's match with Kairi Sane, which allowed Asuka's tag team partner to pick up the win.
