Backstage News On Bryan Danielson's AEW World Title Win At All In

More on Bryan Danielson’s AEW World Championship win at All in 2024

Bryan Danielson has done it, with the legendary ‘American Dragon’ defeating Swerve Strickland for the AEW World Championship at All In Wembley Stadium 2024 and avoiding retirement for now.

Many had suspected that Danielson would lose at All In and ride into the Sunset, with Danielson himself noting how 2024 is his final year as a full-time professional wrestler. However, despite Bryan actively pushing against winning the title in the past, Fightful Select reports that AEW President Tony Khan was adamant that Danielson should stand tall at Wembley with the gold with Danielson relenting.

The decision to run Swerve vs. Danielson at All In was reportedly made ‘at least by April’, with many  fans expecting AEW to originally run Swerve vs. Will Ospreay instead. Seemingly it was never planned for Ospreay and Swerve to headline Wembley, with one AEW source telling Fightful the ‘Aerial Assassin’ ‘will have chances to main event Wembley for years to come.’

As for Danielson accepting the win, some backstage in AEW joked that they’d have to pull a ‘reverse Montreal Screwjob’ to ensure that Danielson left London as AEW World Champion.
