Peacock Launches In UK

NBCUniversal streaming service Peacock launched in the United Kingdom today. 

In a joint announcement, Sky and NBCUniversal revealed Sky TV customers and subscribers to the NOW TV Entertainment Pass in the United Kingdom and Ireland will have access to Peacock from November 16 at no additional cost. 

Lee Raftery, Managing Director, Europe, Middle East & Africa, NBCUniversal, said: "Following its successful phased launch in the U.S., we are excited to mark the international debut of Peacock content in the UK and Ireland on Sky. Peacock provides Sky customers with an expanded catalogue of world-class content, including many of our most popular movies and shows from Peacock and across NBCUniversal."

Peacock's launch in the United Kingdom and Ireland will prompt fears over the WWE Network's future in the region. 

WWE tied up a $1 billion deal with NBCUniversal earlier this year which saw Peacock become the exclusive home of the WWE Network in the United States. 

International customers continue to use the WWE Network for the company's pay-per-views but WWE President Nick Khan revealed during the Q3 2021 earnings call that the organisation was currently holding "conversations" about what the best plan is for WWE Network in the UK.

Since WWE Network's launch on Peacock earlier this year, the service has suffered from a myriad of issues from a poor search function to incorrect audio feeds playing during the Extreme Rules pay-per-view.
