CM Punk Calls Out AEW, Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley & More In Since-Deleted Instagram Post

CM Punk blasts Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, Dave Meltzer and more

In a since-deleted post on his Instagram Stories, CM Punk has taken aim at All Elite Wrestling, Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley, and the Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Dave Meltzer. In particular, the two-time AEW World Champion called Meltzer a "liar" and Chris Jericho a "liar and a stooge." Punk also claimed that Moxley refused to lose to him.

Punk wrote:

"SIGH. I wasn't cleared to come back to wrestle yet. Then plan was to wrestle at the ppv. I sat and listened to moxleys Rocky three idea. I explained how I'd never seen a Rocky movie. I and thought the idea sucked but if the boss wanted to do it whatever. He said he wouldn't lose to me. I'd never experienced someone refusing to lose to me. I just laughed. I asked Tony if this was what he wanted. He said yes. He's the boss so I said okay but I'd need to be cleared first. They kept saying it could just be a squash so I didn't need to be cleared. I scoffed at that. My health is more important. Dave Meltzer is a liar. Jericho is a liar and a stooge. There were plans but plans always change but I'll never put a company above my health ever again."

Punk was seemingly responding to a recent post from Dave Meltzer on the F4W Online Message Board.

Meltzer stated:

"Do you know why they didn't advertise Punk vs. Moxley longer and why it had a short build? Because Punk agreed to it, then AEW got a legal letter saying he wasn't down with it and wasn't doing it and they didn't know if he'd come until Tony put his foot down. There are a lot of nice things I can say about him, and you can absolutely argue his position on Moxley was correct, but you can't argue he willingly did what he was asked in that scenario."

Chris Jericho posted a GIF of Matt Hardy making a DELETE motion on his Instagram Stories following Punk's post.

Both Punk and Meltzer's posts were in reference to the AEW World Title unification match between Punk and Jon Moxley on the August 24, 2022 edition of Dynamite. Punk had only just returned to AEW following a broken foot and he didn't hit any offence in the three-minute match, quickly succumbing to Moxley after multiple Death Riders.

Punk would regain the AEW World Title from Moxley at All Out on September 4 but that night is primarily remembered for Punk's rant during the post-PPV media scrum, during which he called out Hangman Page, Colt Cabana, and The Elite. Punk and Ace Steel then had a fight with The Elite after the scrum which resulted in all involved being suspended.

The Elite would ultimately return at Full Gear, while Ace Steel was fired. It is unknown if Punk is still suspended but he is out of action anyway with a torn triceps. It was noted today that Punk wants to come back to AEW and he signalled as much in an Instagram comment. How his deleted post affects any plans for a Punk return is unknown.
