Report: Andrade El Idolo 'Trying To Get Fired' By AEW

Andrade El Idolo wants out of AEW

Andrade El Idolo is trying to get fired by All Elite Wrestling, according to a new report.

The former NXT Champion was involved in a backstage altercation with Sammy Guevara at Wednesday's AEW Dynamite taping in Washington, DC. Reports from Fightful Select and TMZ noted that Guevara pushed Andrade and El Idolo threw a punch. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer stated, however, that Andrade was waiting for Sammy in the hallway and he punched Guevara twice. The three-time TNT Champion did not fight back and the altercation was broken up.

Meltzer further reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Andrade is currently trying to get fired by AEW.

"Andrade is trying to get fired. We all know that. So far, when guys want to leave, some will go to great extremes to do that. It's happened with WWE. I've talked to people in WWE who've tried to get fired with some of the craziest things in the world...Getting in a fight was never one of them but there's things much crazier than that. So now the situation is on the other front where there is a few people, and it's not that many, it’s like three, that want to leave. There's different stories and whatever and Andrade is one of them," Meltzer said.

Andrade was reportedly told he would not be fired but he would be sent home if he fought Guevara at Dynamite. That is ultimately what happened.

Andrade trying to get fired comes after it emerged that the new WWE regime had reached out to several talents in AEW about joining the company in the summer. Malakai Black and Buddy Matthews also reportedly want to go back to WWE and they are currently taking time off from AEW. AEW reportedly introduced a 'no releases' doctrine following WWE's alleged contract tampering.

El Idolo didn't admit he was open to a WWE return this week but he did state that Triple H could reach out to him through his wife Charlotte Flair.

The former NXT Champion has been a part of AEW since June of 2021. He signed a three-year deal with the promotion.
