Satnam Singh Makes AEW Debut

The former NBA draft pick made his debut on AEW TV

As seen at the climax of the April 13 edition of AEW: Dynamite, Satnam Singh made his debut for the company, beating down new ROH World TV Champion Samoa Joe at the behest of Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt.

The 7’3” former Dallas Mavericks NBA draft pick signed with AEW in late 2021, reporting to The Nightmare Factory for coaching, and it looks like Singh is being earmarked for a run across AEW and Ring of Honor under Lethal and Dutt’s watchful eyes.

A report from Grapsody’s Will Washington on Fightful Select states that Singh’s debut was done as a big angle for EuroSport, which is AEW’s India TV partner, as well as being under the Discovery-Warnermedia umbrella after the recent $43billion merger of the media conglomerates.

The belief is that AEW debuted Singh on a big platform in order to help create a ‘diverse platform’, as the story involving Singh/Dutt/Lethal/Joe has now played out across ROH PPV and AEW TV. AEW were expecting huge social media traffic on the back of Singh’s debut, with the first ever Indian-born NBA draft-pick having significant cross-over value, as well as hopefully increasing AEW’s presence in India, with Dutt and Singh expected to do promos for the Indian market going forward.
