El Desperado & Flip Gordon Ruled Out Of NJPW Best Of The Super Juniors - Replacements Revealed

The finals will take place inside Korakuen Hall on June 5...

New Japan Pro Wrestling will hold the latest Best Of The Super Juniors tournament between May 13 and June 5, with the final taking place inside Korakuen Hall.

Even though the company officially announced the blocks and the schedule earlier this week, they have been forced to make two changes in the B Block due to circumstances out of their hands.

El Desperado has been ruled out of the tournament due to injury - it's noted that he suffered a broken jaw at the TakaTaichi Mania 2 event in Korakuen Hall on May 7 - while Flip Gordon won't be competing due to visa issues: "Flip Gordon was not issued a proper visa in time to enter Japan, and has reluctantly been forced to withdraw from the tournament," a statement on the company's website read.

Ren Narita and DOUKI are replacing Gordon and Desperado in the tournament.

Here's what Narita had to say: "These league matches mean a huge amount to my career, and of course, I want to be the first Young Lion to ever win BoSJ. I don’t want any one to make excuses about me being a Young Lion in here, nobody treating me any different. I’m in it to win it- that’s all."

And here's what Taichi had to say about DOUKI: "Now you’d better believe me when I tell you, this guy is the real deal. Three days before the tournament starts and he’s all ready to go- I know how to pick ’em, and I know how to train ’em. Super Junior? DOUKI is going to turn the whole thing upside down."
