Next WWE Draft Confirmed For October, Will Be Two-Night Event

SmackDown, then Raw...

In what looks to be a certain nail in the coffin of the "Wild Card rule", WWE will freshen up its Raw and SmackDown rosters next month with a special two-night draft.

The reorganization will begin on the October 11 edition of SmackDown, taking place in Las Vegas, and conclude on Raw three nights later in Denver.

WWE will be getting celebrities and other TV personalities involved in the draft, as they note, "On both nights of the Draft, Superstars from Raw and SmackDown will appear along with personalities from FOX and NBCUniversal programming to announce select picks that will determine the rosters of each distinct brand."

The exact scope of the Draft has not been revealed, particularly in terms of how many selections each brand will have, but it seems that it would be like the 2002 and 2016 starter versions, in that both shows would essentially begin from scratch, especially since the Draft is being held over two nights.

The October 11 SmackDown will be the second episode in its Friday night timeslot on FOX, following the 20th anniversary special in Los Angeles on October 4.
