Report: Update On John Cena's Status For WWE WrestleMania 36

Will The Doctor Of Thuganomics compete?

Before the TLC pay-per-view on Sunday, professional wrestling fans realised 2019 would be the first year since 2001 that John Cena had not competed on a WWE pay-per-view.

Cena has instead been focusing on becoming a full-time actor. He had a starring role in the new Transformers movie, Bumblebee earlier this year, and he most recently starred in Playing With Fire. The Leader Of The Cenation has also signed on to appear in the new Suicide Squad movie and Fast & Furious 9.

This does not mean that Cena is finished inside a WWE ring, however. WrestleVotes have reported that the 16-time World champion wants to do more than he did at WrestleMania 35, and potentially compete in a match this year. They explained that Cena believes it is important for him to be at the show as he lives close to Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

WrestleVotes tweeted: "Heard recently that John Cena wants to do something substantial at WrestleMania. More than just an appearance like last year. Cena resides within the Tampa area, seems like this Mania is important to him."
