Sin Cara Requests Release From WWE

After a near ten-year run...

Jorge Arias, the man behind the mask of Sin Cara, has taken to Twitter to announce that he has asked for his release from WWE.

Arias wrote, "Last night, after praying and considering it a lot, thinking about my children and their future, I made one of the most difficult but sensible decisions I have had to make in my professional wrestling career; I have asked for my WWE release."

Though Arias expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work in WWE, he added, "I realized that I am stuck in a place where I am not valued as an athlete or talent.

"I have waited patiently for the opportunity to show the world everything I can do. Unfortunately, after all these years, that opportunity never came or I feel that it will ever come while I remain where I am."

Arias thanked his fans for their "unwavering support".

Hired by WWE around the turn of this decade, Arias spent over a year in developmental as Hunico, a name that he would later use on the main roster. He also played the impostor Sin Cara in a 2011 feud with the original.

In late 2013, Arias took over the Sin Cara role from an outgoing Luis Urive, and has played the character ever since. As Sin Cara, Arias is a former NXT Tag Team champion with Lucha Dragons team member Kalisto.
