AEW Signs Eddie Kingston

Following an impressive TNT title match performance...

Nine days following the airing of his AEW TNT title match with Cody Rhodes, it was announced that Eddie Kingston has officially signed with the promotion.

All Elite Wrestling tweeted out the now-standard "...is All Elite" graphic with Kingston, while writing, "Welcome to the team #MadKing. #EddieKingston is #AllElite. #SignEddieKingston is now #EddieKingstonIsSigned"

The 38-year-old, 18-year veteran has wrestled for virtually every major modern indy, including Ring of Honor, CHIKARA, PWG, CZW, IWA Mid-South, and EVOLVE, among others. Kingston also wrestled for Impact between 2016 and 2018, first as part of the Death Crew Council, and later as part of LAX.

Kingston becomes the second outside performer to answer Cody Rhodes' TNT title open challenge, and later earn a contract with the promotion. The first was former NWA Television champion Ricky Starks.

Kingston's performance against Cody drew much acclaim, from his fiery pre-match promo, to the match itself, which was fought under no-DQ rules at Kingston's beckoning. In the immediate aftermath of Kingston's performance, #SignEddieKingston trended on Twitter, and remained a trend through the night.
