Amidst the recent turmoil within TNA Wrestling that has seen multiple backstage firings and Tommy Dreamer agree to part ways with the promotion, there has been speculation that Anthem could be open to selling the pro wrestling company.
There has even been a claim from Blake Avignon on X/Twitter that Anthem's Len Asper has set a floor of $30 million for a potential TNA sale, but the Anthem president and CEO would prefer a sale price of between $40 million and $50 million.
If TNA are indeed available for that price, don't expect AEW's Tony Khan to be one of the bidders. Khan quite literally laughed off buying TNA for $40 million during the pre-Forbidden Door media call, but he didn't rule out acquiring the promotion for the right price.
"No [laughs]. I mean, it has value. It would have to be the right price. A video library that's had a lot of great wrestlers over the years. It's certainly not a top priority for me as an acquisition right now and it's not something I've had any serious conversations about. Like a lot of things in life, it could be an interesting purchase if the price was right, but isn't that true of so many things in life? There's a lot of excellent automobiles out there and I would love to have them in my garage, but it would depend on the price of the car. A lot of things are like that in life… So at that number, no absolutely not," Khan said.
Tony Khan has had the opportunity to purchase TNA before. The promotion was offered to Khan prior to him founding All Elite Wrestling, and Khan was approached about acquiring TNA again a few years later but turned down the opportunity on both occasions.
Former TNA President Scott D'Amore tried to purchase the company in early 2024, with a D'Amore-led consortium valuing TNA at between $7 million and $12 million. D'Amore's offer was rejected by Anthem.
Today, any TNA sale would need to go through WWE as the organisation holds a right of first refusal to match any outside offers for TNA. WWE also have a clause as part of their TNA working relationship to purchase TNA outright within a permitted timeframe.
