AJ Styles Discusses Wrestling Retirement

AJ Styles has opened up on some plans for retiring

AJ Styles has done just about everything in professional wrestling, finding success in WWE, TNA and NJPW over the years. He is now in his mid-forties, with retirement looking closer than ever for the Phenomenal One, though he is still performing at a very high level. When talking to Mark Andrews on the My Love Letter To Wrestling podcast, he discussed hanging up the boots.

"I would think that going out the way that you want to and not going out the way you have to, that's all I wanna do. I just wanna be able to finish and go out the way that I want to. I know that's a hard thing 'cause injuries are the reason for a lot of retirements. For Edge, his first one, he retired because he thought his career was over, and that's the way it is for a lot of us in what we do. So I am just hoping to finish. I wanna finish, and I wanna finish my way and not due to injury.”

Styles recently came up short in an attempt to become the new World Heavyweight Champion against Seth Rollins at Night Of Champions 2023, and hasn’t held a world title in the company for nearly five years, with him taking a big step away from the main event scene for the most part.
