The in-ring WWE return of Asuka was confirmed on last night's (June 9) edition of Raw.

On Raw, WWE presented the match brackets for this year's King and Queen of the Ring tournaments, which will culminate at Night of Champions on June 28.

In a first round match, Asuka will take on Stephanie Vaquer, Raquel Rodriguez and Ivy Nile in a four-way. The winner will go on to meet one of Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Chelsea Green or Candice LeRae in the semi-finals.

The Empress of Tomorrow has been out of action for over a year after undergoing knee surgery. Her last WWE match was at Backlash 2024, where she and Kairi Sane dropped the WWE Women's Tag Team Titles to Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair.

WWE were reportedly discussing creative plans for Asuka's WWE return earlier this year.

In February, the former WWE Women's Champion revealed that the company were taking action to protect her after worrying social media posts. Asuka said she felt like she was in danger after fans kept professing their feelings of love and desire to her.
