Bronson Reed Asked To Be A Heel In WWE NXT

Reed was released by WWE in August

Bronson Reed has revealed he asked to have a run as a heel in WWE NXT.

Since mid 2020, Reed was firmly presented as a babyface on the NXT roster, culminating in the 33-year-old capturing the NXT North American Championship from Johnny Gargano earlier this year.

Reed has since been released by WWE, departing the company in August, and has now admitted he would have liked the chance to work as a heel in the promotion.

Talking to Busted Open Radio, Reed said: "Not that I was held back in NXT, but there are certain things they want you to do and a certain way they want you to be. I think I'm going to have a good mix of what I want, but also what I've learned from these great minds in the last few years.

"I pretty much got to be the babyface I wanted to be. I've always been under the impression that WWE doesn't book babyfaces well. In these last recent years, I would debut and I'd be against another babyface. I'm the big babyface beating up the smaller guy, I'm not gonna come off endearing at all, I'm just going to look like a heel.

"A side of me that I always asked creative for was to do a switch and have me as a heel in NXT, which we didn't get to see. I would like to work as a heel wherever I go. I'm happy to work as a babyface, but (being a heel) is a side that no one in the American audience has seen. It's a little more violent than what I could do in NXT."
