Bryan Danielson appeared at Monday's AEW Countdown event to help promote the All In 2025 pay-per-view. He confirmed that he'd be at the show next year, but also spoke very cautiously about the likelihood of seeing him wrestle again.
In an interview with Denise Salcedo, Bryan explained:
"If I had to guess right now, I would say it’s 50/50. And you know what? I’m ok with that. I loved the time I got to spend doing this, but I also love what I’m doing now."
He also gave an update on the condition of his neck, stating that he'd like to avoid surgery if possible:
"I’d like to avoid it as much as possible. The idea to me is that surgery is a last resort, not a first resort. I’m trying some other things, and I’m a little kooky right? People who know me, I’m a little kooky. I’m going to try some other things first before going under the knife."
Danielson's future within AEW - and the wrestling world on the whole - is difficult to predict. Many would argue that wrestlers are notoriously hard to read on the topic of retirement, and the nature of Bryan's recent on-screen defeat lends itself well to a redemption storyline. However, in Danielson's case, his injury history is well known, having had to retire from in-ring competition once before in WWE.
Bryan's latest (and possibly final) match came at this year's AEW WrestleDream, where he lost the AEW World Championship to Jon Moxley.
