Cameron Grimes Receives Message Of Support From Matt Hardy Following His WWE Release

Matt Hardy sends message to Cameron Grimes following WWE release

Cameron Grimes was the latest talent to be released by WWE this month, with the 30-year-old revealing in an emotional video on social media that he had been fired by the company. Other wrestlers released by WWE already in April 2024 include Jinder Mahal, Veer, Sanga, Von Wagner, Xia Li, and Xyon Quinn.

Grimes has already reverted back to his Trevor Lee moniker and the former NXT North American Champion received a message of support from Matt Hardy following his release.

"Trevor, I love your passion & your raw emotion. I've been in your life & known you since you were literally born. I am IMMENSELY proud of you. So is your father. The first release from your dream hits hard, but it ushers in a period of personal growth & mandatory change. It's also a great time to show the world exactly who you are. You're one of the most gifted pro wrestlers I've ever seen. It's in your blood, in your soul. I see nothing but great things coming to you in your future," Hardy wrote.

Hardy and Lee have a history in pro wrestling together and Lee was actually the champion of Matt's OMEGA promotion for several months in 2015. They also interacted in TNA.

Trevor Lee has already revealed that he plans to continue wrestling, noting in his release video: "This isn't what I wanted to do at all. The WWE is all I've ever wanted to do and be. But If I have to go somewhere else now to show them that they missed out, then that's what I've gotta do."

Lee signed with WWE in early 2019 and was a part of a popular programme in NXT over the Million Dollar Championship with Ted DiBiase and LA Knight when Grimes utilised his 'Richest Man in NXT' gimmick. He eventually debuted full-time on the main roster in May 2023 but he was hardly used by WWE and quickly became a jobber to the stars.

His final WWE match saw Grimes lose to Bron Breakker in just over one minute on the April 12 episode of SmackDown. The squash took place less than two years after Breakker and Grimes main evented NXT Great American Bash together.
