On his latest Saturday Night Special, Chris Jericho dropped a bit of interesting insight regarding AEW's upcoming Women's Tag Team Cup tournament (titled "The Deadly Draw"), in particular one of the entrants.
According to "The Demo God", former NXT performer Taynara Conti is scheduled to wrestle in the tournament as a partner of The Dark Order's Anna Jay. They'll take on the random team of Nyla Rose and Ariane (former WWE wrestler Cameron), in a match that has already been taped.
"The women's tag team tournament, I think you guys are really going to like it, we're giving a lot of different people a chance," Jericho said. "I was really surprised, there was a match Nyla Rose and Ariane Andrew against Taynara Conti and Anna Jay."
Jericho added that he was impressed with the match, saying, "Taynara, I'm not sure how many matches she just had, I know she was with NXT, and Ariane, we haven't seen her in a few years now, Anna Jay's super green, even Nyla's fairly green, so I didn't know what to expect.
"I watched this match, and all four girls just kicked ass! It was really good, it was way better than I expected. I'm not saying that in a mean way either, they really impressed me, all of them!"
Conti was released from WWE on April 17. She reportedly asked for her release earlier in 2020.
The Deadly Draw will air Mondays, and begins on August 3.
