CM Punk Arrival Sees WWE Backstage Viewership Increase

The CM Punk Effect?

Former WWE Champion CM Punk making his debut on WWE Backstage seemingly did wonders for the FOX show.

Tuesday's episode saw an 80% increase from the previous week, with viewers climbing from 100,000 to 180,000. This made the show the 104th most-watched programme of the evening.

The show had previously failed to break into the top 150 since debuting on November 5.

During the show itself, CM Punk discussed a number of things, including the possibility of an in-ring return.

The former WWE Champion also didn't hold back when discussing Friday Night Smackdown - in particular, the King Corbin segment which opened the show that included that now-infamous mascot: "I mean this is something… the less said about it I think the better. It makes me reconsider doing this show. Did you like it? You can’t possibly defend that. The creative’s bad. I don’t know anything about Baron Corbin really. He’s one of the newer guys. I’ve gotta check him out, but that’s a bad start. What did you think of it? Garbage. Garbage."
