CM Punk Suffers First Loss In 8 Years On AEW Dynamite

MJF stands tall in Chicago

After months of talking and MJF avoiding a confrontation inside the squared circle, Maxwell Jacob Friedman and CM Punk finally went one-on-one on Wednesday's edition of Dynamite, an episode from The Second City Saviour's hometown of Chicago, Illinois.

Both men fought back and forth for 38 minutes and MJF even had the match won at one point after he used tape to choke out CM Punk. The referee noticed Friedman's infraction, though, and restarted the match.

CM Punk also used the Pepsi Plunge for the first time in 17 years but it wasn't enough to score the victory. MJF then cheated to pick up the win as Wardlow reluctantly gave his employer the Dynamite Diamond Ring and Friedman used the weapon to knock out Punk and cover him for the 1-2-3.

With MJF's victory, CM Punk suffers his first loss since January 2014, eight years ago. The Second City Saviour's record in AEW also falls to 11-1 and 2-1 for 2022.

Reacting to his win, MJF wrote: "Second city. So I beat that Bum twice."
