WALTER Vs. Ilja Dragunov - WWE NXT TakeOver 36
This was not a match. This was a war.
WALTER vs. Ilja Dragunov the first time around was bloody brilliant but somehow, someway, the two put on an even better outing in their second match at NXT TakeOver 36 in August.
Physical and brutal, both men were left bruised, bloody and broken by the sheer violence on display. This was as real as professional wrestling gets. It oozed pure aggression and showcased a European style of wrestling, on the biggest stage, at its very best.
I said in the week following TakeOver 36 that WALTER vs. Dragunov II not only stole the entire weekend (including SummerSlam 2021) but was going to be Match Of The Year. As we close 2021, I stand by that.
