CM Punk has been the talk of the pro wrestling world in recent days after it emerged the former WWE Champion was looking to restructure his contract with the company, only months after he made his return at Survivor Series in November 2023. It was also noted that Punk wants to be a part of WWE "forever" amid ambitions to one day run NXT.
A report from Dave Meltzer then claimed that Punk and WWE were negotiating over a new contract because Punk's deal was set to expire but Mike Johnson of PWInsider has since reported that Punk signed a three-year deal with WWE in November 2023 that keeps him under contract until November 2026.
Johnson also reported that WWE actually approached Punk about renegotiating his deal and the company are looking to "lock in what was described as a 'bigger' deal" for the 45-year-old. WWE are looking to give Punk a bigger increase due to it being a new WWE and the huge numbers Punk has drawn for the company.
Fightful Select also noted: "Regarding his deal, we're told by WWE sources that Punk's deal isn't up imminently, and the company approached him about the possibility of expanding the deal as business has exploded, and there are more elements that can be worked in."
WWE are also said to be "extremely happy" with Punk's attitude and drawing power since returning to the company, according to WrestleVotes.
"Regarding the recent CM Punk news: A source tells me the company is extremely happy with Punk’s attitude, commitment, drawing power (both TV numbers & social media views), and big merchandise sales. It’s safe to say they want to continue this momentum for as long as possible," WrestleVotes tweeted.
Punk is scheduled to make his in-ring return against Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam. The 'Voice of the Voiceless' reportedly approved the photo that Drew McIntyre took with Jack Perry on Thursday night and there is no concern about heat between Punk and Drew.
