A GoFundMe has been launched for former WWE star Samu Anoa'i, who is preparing to undergo life-saving open heart surgery.
Samu's daughter Leila set up the GoFundMe to help her father with medical bills. They are seeking to raise $60,000. Chris Jericho is the current top donor with $1,500.
The description notes that Samu had been diagnosed with liver cancer in 2017 and underwent a successful liver transplant in 2019.
Having battled kidney issues since he was a child, Samu had a serious kidney stone attack in January 2025, which led to a heart attack and sepsis infection that almost cost him his life. The subsequent stay in hospital left him with a six-figure medical bill.
Samu is probably best known as one half of The Headshrinkers tag team, alongside cousin Solofa Fatu (AKA Rikishi). The duo won the WWE Tag Team Championships in 1994, with their 124-day reign ending at the hands of Two Dudes with Attitudes (Shawn Michaels & Diesel).
Prior to signing with WWE, the two had competed for, among other promotions, WCW as The Samoan SWAT Team.
The 61-year-old, who signed a WWE Legends deal in February 2022, came out of retirement on a Battleground Championship Wrestling show in April of last year.
