Fan chants featuring cursing or swearing have been common at WWE shows for decades but censorship of said chants has become a common occurrence, particularly in recent years.
Censorship of fan chants has even carried over to Netflix, with Seth Rollins' promo on the May 26 edition of Monday Night Raw coming across as somewhat stilted due to chants of "F*ck you Rollins" being repeatedly silenced.
It emerged this week that WWE have thought about how to combat cursing from fans, with it being revealed that the company had considered simply asking fans not to swear, similar to Davina McCall on Big Brother.
WWE have already taken measures against cursing from fans within NXT, Fightful Select's Corey Brennan has reported. NXT crowds at the WWE Performance Center have been asked not to swear in the past and those who have continued to swear received warnings that they could be removed from the tapings. Fightful noted they haven't heard of an incident where the situation led to a fan being removed, however.
WWE NXT currently airs on The CW in the United States and on Netflix internationally, including in the United Kingdom. Measures were taken to censor fan chants during NXT's premiere on The CW in October 2024.
