Lance Archer Vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi Set For NJPW Resurgence

The Ace heads to the United States

Lance Archer's next IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship defence has been revealed.

The Murderhawk Monster successfully defended the title against Bullet Club's Hikuleo on last night's edition of AEW: Dynamite, but Archer's next opponent was revealed ahead of the match as Hiroshi Tanahashi appeared in a pre-taped promo and challenged the winner. Following Archer's victory, Tanahashi would then confirm the match will take place at NJPW Resurgence on August 14 in Los Angeles.

This will be the first time Archer and Tananashi have faced off in singles action since G1 Climax 29 in July 2019. Tanahashi came away with the win after 11 minutes on that occasion.

Lance Archer vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi is just the latest match to be announced for the Resurgence show. Check out the card below:
• Karl Fredericks vs. Alex Coughlin
• Fred Rosser, Wheeler Yuta & Rocky Romero vs. TJP, Clark Connors & Ren Narita
• Jay White (c) vs. David Finlay - NEVER Openweight Championship
• Lance Archer (c) vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi - IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship
