MJF Reveals Why He Didn't Confront CM Punk And His "Real" Worlds Title

MJF didn't ever confront CM Punk about being the self-proclaimed AEW Champion

Prior to CM Punk’s AEW firing, he was involved in a storyline in which he claimed to be the  “Real” Worlds Champion, donning an AEW World Title belt of his own after never losing the belt in the first place. There were some fans wondering why the actual AEW World Champion MJF never confronted Punk, especially when the two men were sometimes on the AEW Collision show at the same time. It was seen as illogical and a plot hole.

MJF has provided some insight on the subject during an interview with WrestlePurists, giving his reasons for never confronting CM Punk.

"I never commented on it. I'll tell you why. I am not exactly a company man. I almost got our company thrown off of Turner after I called Tony a fucking mark. So I won't sit here and tell you I'm a company man. I'm definitely pro-professional wrestlers. The fact of the matter is that Collision is really important. Collision's success is super important. So, at the time, having a guy of that stature having something that everybody in that show could be fighting for because, realistically, as much as Tony Khan wishes he can clone MJF, I can't be everywhere at once. I didn't have an issue with it. I thought it made all the sense in the world. Yeah, so to me, I wasn't sweating it, frankly."

In the end, MJF and CM Punk never had that expected confrontation, and their rivalry never got its desired completion.
