Report: Malakai Black's WWE Brand Revealed

Malakai Black will be back on the main roster when he resurfaces on WWE programming.

Black officially exited All Elite Wrestling when his contract expired in February 2025. Reports have noted that Black will be returning to WWE and his return could be imminent. WWE also reportedly plan to push the former NXT Champion as a potential major singles star.

According to PWN, Malakai Black is expected to return to WWE as part of the SmackDown brand. This won't be a huge shock due to his wife Zelina Vega being on SmackDown and WWE have often tried to book couples on the same show in recent years.

Malakai Black previously wrestled for WWE from 2016 until his release in 2021, during which he was booked strongly by Triple H on WWE NXT. Paul Heyman was also a big supporter of Black's but Vince McMahon appeared to be less of a fan of the wrestler and he seldom booked the former Tommy End on the main roster during Black's final months with the company.

Black's run in AEW was considered a disappointment by many and his exit was seemingly a cause of some relief amongst the roster.
