Matt Riddle celebrating with the MLW World Heavyweight Title

Matt Riddle has signed an exclusive deal with Major League Wrestling, according to a report from Lucha Libre Online.

The two sides reached a deal in late 2024 and the contract resulted in Matt Riddle finishing up with AAA due to MLW's working relationship with CMLL. Riddle was the reigning AAA World Cruiserweight Champion but he dropped the belt to Laredo Kid in December.

"EXCLUSIVE: Lucha Libre Online confirms that Matt Riddle has signed an exclusive contract with MLW. This occurred in late 2024. Because MLW has an exclusive strategic alliance with CMLL, the parties came to an agreement for Matt Riddle to no longer compete in AAA in order to honour the agreement with CMLL. This does not mean that Riddle will compete in CMLL, but that MLW will respect the alliance with said company. The King of Bros is the new MLW World Champion. Court Bauer and his team were right in the decision to make the Bro the face of their company," Lucha Libre Online tweeted (translated).

Matt Riddle has been one of MLW's top stars since he returned to the promotion in January 2024. He defeated Satoshi Kojima to win the MLW World Heavyweight Championship at Kings of Colosseum on January 11.

Riddle's exclusive deal could be one explanation as to why TNA have no future plans for him. The former WWE United States Champion made his TNA debut at Turning Point in November 2024, teaming with KUSHIDA and Zachary Wentz against The Hardys and Ace Austin.
