Michael Elgin was reportedly arrested in Japan sometime last weekend, according to a report from Cassidy Haynes of Bodyslam.net.

The report states that Elgin was arrested for stealing protein powder, and (as of the report's posting on Saturday) had remained in custody.

However, Elgin has since responded to the report, writing, "I’m not going to bother saying what happened, but I am going to say. I was not charged for stealing protein. I’m not charged at all, I am not facing jail time. I’m also not deported. I am going to Canada to be with my family after the passing of an extremely close family member."

He later tweeted, "I completely understand people don’t ever want to believe anything other than what they wish were true. I’m not going to debate with people. But, I am on my scheduled flight home. Also, first class. Doesn’t seem like deportation."

Elgin was on tour with Pro Wrestling NOAH, where he was one half of the GHC Tag Team champions with Masa Kitamiya. On July 9, NOAH announced that Elgin would be unable to take part on the upcoming card in Shizuoka, as well as an ensuing date at Budokan Hall. As a result, the titles were vacated, and have since been won by Timothy Thatcher and Hideki Suzuki.
