WWE has seemingly been ramping up plans to expand NXT in recent months. NXT India is reportedly in the works and is expected to start filming in January 2021. The series will begin with an eight-man single-elimination tournament and the show is expected to air on the WWE Network and on TV in India. In addition, plans for an "NXT for NXT" led by Gabe Sapolsky are reportedly in motion.

According to Raj Giri of Wrestling Inc., WWE has talked about launching a Mexican Lucha Libre series. The show would be an NXT Mexico "of sorts" and would air in the United States. A source compared it to the WCW Telemundo "Festival De Lucha" pilot that was taped in 1999 but never made it to air.

The Lucha Libre series is in the very early planning stages as of writing and WWE has spoken to a few people about running the show. One of the names under consideration to be a consultant is former WWE Superstar Chavo Guerrero Jr. The four-time WWE Cruiserweight Champion was a producer on Lucha Underground during the series' four-season run.
