WWE talent are banned from saying Vince McMahon's name on TV, according to a report from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio.

CM Punk alluded to Vince McMahon on the March 25 edition of Monday Night Raw, asking Drew McIntyre who chose him to be the chosen one when McIntyre was McMahon's hand-picked project on WWE TV in 2009. The moment was categorised as Punk "walking right up to the line" but there was no heat on Punk over the remark.

Previous reports had noted that WWE had "thrown in the towel" on Vince McMahon since he was accused of sex trafficking, sexual assault, and physical and emotional abuse in a lawsuit filed by former WWE employee Janel Grant. The lawsuit led to McMahon's resignation as TKO Executive Chairman.

While speaking about the segment between CM Punk, Drew McIntyre, and Seth Rollins, Dave Meltzer reported that Vince McMahon's name is not allowed to be said on WWE TV.

"There was one moment where there were a lot of people thinking this might not be a good idea. It was the Vince McMahon reference. One of the things is that Vince McMahon's name is not allowed to be mentioned on the TV, but McIntyre changed focus and never mentioned the name and they got out of it. They went a little long but there was no negativity from it. One person told me that Levesque knew they were probably gonna go long, so the matches that didn't have the entrances, before the show they already planned that that was gonna be the case. So it wasn't that they came up with that to save time," Meltzer stated.

In addition to the Janel Grant lawsuit, Vince McMahon is under federal investigation for multiple allegations of sexual assault dating back to the 1980s.
