Ricky Starks Wins Men's Owen Hart Foundation Cup Tournament

An upset win for Ricky Starks over CM Punk in the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament finals

Ricky Starks wins the second annual Owen Hart Foundation Cup Men's tournament, after defeating CM Punk in the finals on Saturday night's AEW Collision in Calgary.

In the final sequence, Punk hit a top rope hurracanrana, but Starks rolled through into a pinning combination. Punk reversed into his own pinning predicament, but Starks maneuvered Punk into a sunset pin, and grabbed the middle rope for leverage to get the pin.

Jushin "Thunder" Liger was on hand to present the trophy to the winner, but Starks just snatched it out of his hands and held it up on the stage, while Punk watched bewildered from the ring.

Starks' path to the finals saw him defeat Juice Robinson in the quarterfinal round, before defeating former teammate Powerhouse Hobbs in the semis. Punk defeated Satoshi Kojima in the quarterfinals at Forbidden Door, followed by Samoa Joe in the semifinals.

The 2022 Owen Hart Foundation Cup Men's tournament was won by Adam Cole, who defeated Samoa Joe in the finals at Double or Nothing on May 29, 2022 in Las Vegas.
