While AEW are still doing good business and have sold out arenas in recent times (including shifting around 16,000 tickets for Revolution in March), their overall ticket sales have been declining compared to previous years.
The promotion recently hired Kosha Irby, a former Chief Marketing Officer at Clemson University, as their Chief Content Officer. AEW CEO Tony Khan is hopeful that Irby can help positively impact a revised approach to their live events business, telling CBS Sports:
"Kosha is incredibly knowledgeable and skilled and he's making a lot of changes to our routing, our marketing and these are changes that will take some time. But he's really experienced and I really trust him and think we're going to keep growing and expanding".
Khan also added his belief that, "It's just the nature of online discourse but I think people will always push a negative story further than a positive story", when it comes to stories about AEW's live event attendance.
One show guaranteed to have a big crowd is the upcoming All In at Wembley Stadium. Last month it was confirmed that over 41,000 tickets had been sold for the August 25 event. Wembley Stadium is currently set up to accommodate 50,708 fans.
