Triple H Addresses King Of The Ring Final Botch

Triple H has responded to the botch that took place in the King Of The Ring finals

Gunther is your new King Of The Ring, defeating Randy Orton in the finals of the tournament during the King & Queen Of The Ring 2024 premium live event in Saudi Arabia. His victory came with an asterisk though, as when Gunther rolled Orton up for the victory, one of The Viper’s shoulders was very clearly several inches away from the mat, leading to the belief that the finish was a botch.

The controversial finish was briefly brushed over on commentary, but after the show WWE’s Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque took to a backstage interview on WWE's social media and YouTube with Byron Saxton to directly address the ending.

He noted that whilst Orton’s shoulder might have been up, the referee’s decision is final and Gunther is still the King Of The Ring and will earn a championship match at SummerSlam. However, he teased a rematch between Gunther and Orton, stating that he was sure both men would want to settle the score and get rid of any doubts of a decisive victory between the pair. It was stated that Orton didn’t look to be fit in the immediate future for a rematch due to the condition of his leg, but these comments promised a rematch down the line.
