Two Matches Added To NJPW Dominion Card
Jericho, Okada, Naito and Ibushi all in action...
May 6, 2019
It would appear the top two matches for NJPW's Dominion event on June 9 have been made.
The first will see Chris Jericho challenge Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship - a match announced via a promo package where Jericho calls himself The Painmaker and screams "I'm going to win" several times really loudly.
It would appear that Jericho, who signed a deal with AEW recently, has a contract similar to Kenny Omega in the sense that he can still appear for New Japan whenever he likes. Dominion will be The Painmaker's first NJPW match since his defeat to Tetsuya Naito at Wrestle Kingdom on January 4.
The second match announced for the show will see the IWGP Intercontinental Championship on the line with Kota Ibushi defending against Naito in a rematch from the G1 Supercard.
Naito and Ibushi have been feuding since the Golden Star eliminated the former Intercontinental champ from the New Japan Cup in March. Naito has made no bones about wanting to be the first man to hold the IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental Championships simultaneously.
