Update On Kenny Omega's Injury Status

Omega is on the mend.

Kenny Omega has been out of action since December 2023 due to diverticulitis, a condition that could have been life-threatening.

The former AEW World Champion underwent surgery in May and has been convalescing since.

Writing in the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer has provided a positive update on how the 40-year-old is doing.

Per Meltzer:

"Regarding Kenny Omega, we haven't heard anything new past he's doing better and while we don't have any kind of a date for him returning, the feeling right now is that he will be returning and his career isn't over. He hasn't been cleared to start any training yet".

The tentative plan for Omega once he returns to AEW is for him to eventually have a major match with storied rival Kazuchika Okada. However, any return is still months away from happening.

Though he has not been on AEW television much of late, Omega has been active on his Twitch channel. Among the interesting comments to come from The Cleaner are him saying that he'd love to be presented similarly to how Roman Reigns is presented by WWE, and his belief that Kurt Angle is the most complete professional wrestler of all time.
