Tony Khan has revealed why AEW runs larger arenas despite poor ticket sales
In recent months the lower attendances of AEW shows has been a talking point amongst many fans. With darkened upper sections, tarped off seats on the hard cam side, and reduced ticket sales, fans and critics alike have questioned why AEW continues to book larger arenas. Tony Khan has answered that question.
Speaking to GV Wire, Tony Khan was questioned on why AEW does this despite the decreased attendances.
"It depends on the market and the time. A lot of times, those arenas have a lot of big advantages like email lists and marketing and they are a destination venue for shows. It depends on the market and the timing. Certainly, bigger arenas do have a lot of advantages. They have a lot of sale contacts and really good marketing resources.”
AEW is set to run some large arenas in the next few months such as the Greensboro Coliseum, the TD Garden in Boston, and another return to both Wembley Stadium and Arthur Ashe Stadium, though ticket sales for several of these events have been positive and successful thus far.
