Colt Cabana has been conspicuously absent from AEW TV for most of 2022, with ‘Boom Boom’ having been allegedly moved over to ROH after Tony Khan acquired the company earlier this year.

Whilst Cabana did return to AEW Dynamite in November, he was absent from the ROH Final Battle card on December 10, with AEW/ROH President Tony Khan revealing why the former ROH Tag Team Champion missed the show during the post-show media scrum:

"He's injured. He hasn't been cleared," Khan revealed. "Because he has been wrestling in the Ring of Honor matches, and that was also what the Chris Jericho storyline is - all Ring of Honor champions and everyone was really all people from either this new Ring of Honor or, in the case of Bryan Danielson, a Hall of Famer and the greatest champion ever, but pretty much everybody who came in there represented the new era of Ring of Honor for the most part, including Colt Cabana, who had been on the last two shows and was 2-0 on Zero Hour."

Khan continued; "I think that would have made a lot of sense because he's done great opening up the show. But he's injured or he would have been [on the show]. He was coaching."

Cabana recently revealed that he 'almost died’ during his ROH World Championship bout against Chris Jericho on November 2, due to accidentally wearing compression socks during his match. Since then, Cabana has wrestled once on the indies at an ACW show on December 2.
