WWE Rejected Name Gigi Dolin Pitched Due To Serial Killer Links

Gigi Dolin originally suggested a WWE name that referenced a serial killer

Well, this is a strange one.

WWE NXT star Gigi Dolin has revealed that WWE rejected a name she pitched due to a similarity with an infamous American serial killer.

During a recent appearance on Drinks With Johnny, the two-time NXT Women's Tag Team Champion said:

"I'm trying to remember what other first names did I come up with (for my WWE run). I know that I wanted the name Gigi Aileen, was one that I liked but that one didn't pass because of Aileen Wuornos. They were like, 'No, we're not doing that. That's a serial killer. You can't do that'.

"We have Joe Gacy which is in the same ballpark but, I don't know, I get it. They're probably like, we already have Joe Gacy coming in around the same time as me and it was like, if I came in with another serial killer name, it was probably just gonna be a little overkill maybe. I don't know [laughs]."

Aileen Wuornos was sentenced to six death sentences for murders she committed between November 1989 and November 1990. Her story was told in the 2003 film Monster, with Charlize Theron's portrayal of Wuornos winning her the Academy Award for Best Actress.

For those unaware, the 'Gacy' that Dolin is referring to is the notorious John Wayne Gacy (who was executed in 1994).
