John Cena Still Believed To Be Friends And In Contact With Vince McMahon

At the post-Money in the Bank press conference, John Cena somewhat avoided the question when he was asked what Vince McMahon had meant to his career. 

Cena - who revealed at the pay-per-view that 2025 would be his final year in WWE - noted that he had answered the question before and people could find it if they "dig hard enough". 

The 16-time world champion was most likely referring to his interview on The Howard Stern Show from February where he said, among other things, that he had a great relationship with McMahon and 'loved the guy'. Cena faced a backlash for his comments in the wake of former WWE employee Janel Grant's lawsuit against McMahon, John Laurinaitis and WWE. 

In their Daily Update, F4WOnline pointed out that Cena was (at least as of one or two months ago) one of the few people McMahon considered a friend and was in contact with. 

As one of WWE's top stars, Cena worked closely with McMahon for over two decades, before the 78-year-old was ousted from his own company. The two had been seen socially in public on multiple occasions in recent years, including at McMahon's birthday party in August 2022. Brock Lesnar and Pat McAfee were also present for those celebrations.
