El Hijo Del Vikingo Injured At PROGRESS Wrestling Show
Another injury for El Hijo del Vikingo during PROGRESS apeearance
Dec 30, 2024
El Hijo del Vikingo suffered an apparent injury at yesterday's PROGRESS Wrestling show.
Vikingo was wrestling Kid Lykos II at Chapter 175: Unboxing VII on December 29 when he landed awkwardly on what was either a code red or sunset flip attempt. The referee checked on the luchador and held up the 'X' sign, signifying a legitimate injury. The match was then stopped and Vikingo was helped backstage, with fan reports suggesting that he was favouring his knee.
A statement from PROGRESS read:
"Vikingo vs Lykos II was stopped early due to an unfortunate injury to Vikingo. He will get checked over by our medical team, and we hope for a speedy recovery, and a return to a PROGRESS ring in the future". Kid Lykos II later wrote:
"El Hijo Del Vikingo is one of the best wrestlers in the world and it was an honour to share the ring with him today. The way things ended was of course the biggest possible shame and I have nothing but hope that we’re able to wrestle again soon when he’s back to 100%".
It has been an injury-plagued 2024 for the 27-year-old. He missed seven months of action after suffering a torn meniscus and ruptured ligament at a show in February (for which he later underwent surgery), and was stretchered out of a TNA taping just a month after his return.
