Tony Khan Details Bringing Jay White To AEW

‘Switchblade’ made his AEW debut last night

All the hype surrounding this week’s edition of AEW: Dynamite surrounded Tony Khan’s announcement that a free agent would ‘cross the forbidden door’ to debut with the company.

Wrestling fans though, are an often pedantic bunch, and pointed out that if you’re a free agent you’re not technically crossing the ‘forbidden door’, meaning that whilst Keith Lee’s debut was impressive and well received, it made Khan’s promise empty.

However, Khan scrambled and pulled a second debut out of the hat for Dynamite, as NJPW’s ‘Switchblade’ Jay White crossed the forbidden door’s threshold and made his official AEW debut by attacking Roppongi Vice as The Superkliq watched on.

Khan subsequently took to Twitter to shed some more light on the situation, Tweeting:

“I didn’t secure @JayWhiteNZ until Sunday. I realized after the fact that Friday night I butchered my own definition of Forbidden Door in hyping tonight. I heard the fans’ feedback, & wanted to ensure that tonight was a special #AEWDynamite for all. Thank you everyone who watched!”
