WWE Monitoring Response To The Rock Vs. Roman Reigns At WrestleMania 40

WWE looking at responses to The Rock vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40

WWE are currently planning to hold The Rock vs. Roman Reigns at WrestleMania 40 but there are currently questions marks over if the match will actually take place heading into Thursday's WrestleMania press conference.

The match was set up on last week's edition of SmackDown, with Cody Rhodes saying he would eventually win the Undisputed WWE Universal Title, just not at WrestleMania 40, as he wants to take everything from Roman Reigns. This brought out The Rock and SmackDown went off the air with a staredown between the two Anoa'i family members.

It has since emerged that Cody Rhodes was replaced by The Rock at WrestleMania 40 following lobbying behind the scenes by Dwayne Johnson. Not only that but The Rock has reportedly pushed to defeat Roman Reigns at WrestleMania.

WWE fans have since revolted against the match and even WWE talents have tweeted #WeWantCody over the weekend. According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, WWE are "absolutely monitoring the responses" to the match announcement.

Aaron Varble of SE Scoops, however, has claimed that WWE won't be changing the main event of WrestleMania 40 back to Cody Rhodes vs. Roman Reigns.

"I followed up after Johnson broke a report saying that WWE is monitoring the situation and things could change with Rock vs Roman. Yes. WWE realizes that they are in a hole that they need to dig themselves out of. No. The plan is not changing. I was told straight up: 'No chance this changes unless The Rock backs out. This has been The Rock calling the shot since January 1st,'" Varble tweeted.
