Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson To Cody Rhodes Following AEW Dynamite Promo: “You Mic Dropped That MF”

High praise…

AEW Wrestling

Wednesday night’s go-home build to the main event of AEW Full Gear saw two noteworthy segments: a very tongue-in-cheek Inner Circle video package, and a fiery, impassioned promo from Cody Rhodes that struck a chord with many.

In addition to fans acclaiming Rhodes’ promo, industry figures came out to offer their own praise. Jim Cornette called it the modern day equivalent to the iconic 1985 “Hard Times” promo delivered by Cody’s legendary father, Dusty. Bully Ray, Diamond Dallas Page, and others echoed similar sentiments.

Cody also received high marks from arguably the greatest speaker to ever grace a wrestling ring in Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.

Responding to AEW on TNT’s upload of the promo on Twitter, Johnson said, “Rhythm, cadence, tone, intent, passion, execution. Great promo, brother. You 🎤 dropped that MF.”

Rhodes takes on AEW World champion Chris Jericho for the gold at AEW Full Gear on Saturday night in Baltimore. During the course of his promo, Rhodes revealed that he will never challenge for the belt again if he doesn’t win it on Saturday.
