Santana & Ortiz Listed As A Tag Team On AEW Roster Page

Santana & Ortiz still connected on the AEW roster page

It’s been over a year since we last saw Santana and Ortiz team together in an AEW ring, with Proud and Powerful last competing as part of Blood & Guts II in June 2022, with Santana suffering an ACL injury during the bout.

Heading into Blood & Guts II, reports suggested that the former IMPACT World Tag Team Champions had fallen out, plunging the future of their team into doubt. However, Santana and Ortiz’s roster bios on AEW’s official website has them both listed as Proud & Powerful members, prompting fans to assume the pair have patched things up.

Whilst this could be an indication that the two could return to AEW’s tag division in the coming months, this could equally be an administrative issue on AEW’s part, and until we see or hear of the two teaming again we have to treat this as a mere rumour.

Santana’s AEW contract was the subject of some discussion earlier in 2023, with the former Inner Circle member’s deal allegedly coming to an end in September 2023, unless AEW add time on due to Santana’s time on the shelf.

As for Ortiz, he hasn’t wrestled since a loss to Brian Cage at an ROH TV taping in April. His absence from TV has not been explained, and it could be that AEW are waiting until Santana returns to put Ortiz back on TV, we’ll have to wait and see.
