The War Report - February 24 2021: Sting And Darby Strike Back

NXT vs. AEW: Dynamite - Which Was The Better Show This Week?

WWE/NXT

There was only one thing on everyone’s lips heading into NXT this week; what would Adam Cole say about his heinous attack on Kyle O’Reilly? Well, he did say he was sorry, then he said he was sorry to Roddy Strong. But he was obviously lying through his teeth as he proceeded to smash Strong in the plums, then gave him a superkick for his troubles.

This storyline has been so good because while anything is probable, nothing is nailed on. Roddy and Cole could have stuck together, Roddy could have turned on Cole, ReDragon could have reformed, anything was and still is possible. Be interesting to see the dynamic between Strong and O’Reilly going forward. I’m expecting more twists and turns. Plus a return to Adam Cole being detestable? Yes please.

For AEW the biggest stand-out - like with most recent episodes - involved Sting. Fresh from taking a slugging powerbomb last week, the morose old crow was back for more, dragging Taz’s son Hook to the stage in a bodybag, before Darby ziplined from the rafters with his deck and battered everyone. Sting even hit the Scorpion Death Drop on Brian Cage as Tony Schiavone squealed, and I was convinced Schiavone was going to say “WE’VE RAN OUT OF TIME, SEE YOU NEXT WEEK ON WCW NITRO.”

Winner: NXT. Undisputed no more.
